How to get there

1. Common approach via Beech Forest / inland Otway roads from the Great Ocean Road corridor (Apollo Bay / Lavers Hill direction). Allow extra time for winding roads and tourist traffic.
2. Do not assume Google’s fastest route is the safest in fog or heavy rain — reduce speed on wet bitumen and gravel transitions.
3. Arrive with fuel, snacks and a full phone battery; mobile coverage can be patchy in forest pockets.
4. Peak weekends: hit the trailhead early. Full car parks push people into bad parking decisions.
5. Do not leave valuables visible — waterfall car parks are not a luggage storage service.

How to do it (step by step)

1. Start at the signed trailhead; stay on the formed circuit and boardwalks.
2. Take stairs and roots slowly when wet. Use handrails where provided.
3. At the falls viewing areas, stay behind barriers and keep children close.
4. Complete the circuit rather than inventing shortcuts through vegetation.
5. Re-group at the car before adding Hopetoun Falls — decide with legs and weather, not FOMO.

Wet-forest realism
